΄σΟσ΄«Γ½' Department of Marine Engineering, Management and Seamanship offers an Associate in Applied Science (AAS), as well as a vocational certificate in Marine Propulsion. The AAS degree is designed to prepare a student to enter the professional mariner industry. During the program the student will learn about vessels from the wheel to the keel. The student will assist in building a vessel, provide it with propulsion, power distribution systems, auxiliary systems, and general navigation equipment. The last and final phase of the training will see the student learning to operate the craft as both Captain and Crew. All phases of marine servicing instruction follow manufacturer and industry standards.
The department also offers a technical certificate for one year program (see link below) which will prepare a student to immediately enter the workforce. It is designed for students who want training in marine gasoline and diesel engines, fiberglass techniques and/or welding without immediately pursuing an AAS Degree.
For the professional mariner, CFK offers captains licensing including: Operator of an Uninspected Vessel (OUPV a.k.a. 6-pack), 100 Ton Master Upgrade, Coastal Navigation, and Basic Seamanship.
This program is designed to prepare individuals for work in the Maritime Industry. Students will develop a wide range of skills, including maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in pleasure and commercial craft creating a well- rounded Marine Technician or Professional Mariner ready to assume the role of Charter Boat Captain, Marine Technician, and so much more!
This program is designed for those students who want training in marine gasoline and diesel engines without immediately pursuing the Associate in Applied Science degree. The certificate attests to the completion of the courses outlined below. These courses may also apply to the A.A.S. degree in Marine
Engineering, Management, and Seamanship if a student later decides on that option. Program duration is approximately one (1) calendar year.
